Xenon HID (High-Intensity Discharge) bulbs are filled with xenon gas. They produce a much whiter and brighter light than halogen bulbs, which is why they are common in many high-end, modern cars. They're currently commonly found in the headlight unit of your vehicle.
The two main benefits are the colour temperature and the amount of light emitted. Xenon bulbs produce colour temperatures of around 4100K and can reach more than 8000K. In other words, this Kelvin rating will give you a crisp white light with increasing amounts of a blue tint.
Xenon HID bulbs also produce lots of light, meaning that you'll benefit from a good amount of visibility of the road ahead.
The easiest way is to use our Bulb Finder, or check your vehicle handbook. HID light fittings start with the letter D, for example, D1S, D2S, or D2R.
If you're still unsure, have a look at the light beam at night. If it's bright and white, rather than a yellowish colour, you're likely to have HID lights fitted in your vehicle.
Due to the high wattages involved, we recommend that an auto-electrician replace your HID lights.
