Performance bulbs vs. Styling bulbs - Which bulbs are right for me?

When it comes to car headlight bulbs there are two main areas - styling and performance. But what are the major differences between the two, and which will better suit your needs? Take a look at our quick post to find out...

Performance Bulbs

Performance bulbs are specially designed for improved vision and safety when driving in the dark. The main benefit of a performance bulb is that they emit a clear and bright light for safer night time driving. Performance bulbs are ideal for drivers who are interested in safety and improved vision over anything else.

Our most popular performance car headlight bulbs are the Philips X-treme Vision +130 and the OSRAM Night Breaker Unlimited. The award winning Philips X-treme Vision bulbs offer a massive 130% more light on the road than a standard fitted bulb, and the OSRAM Night Breaker Unlimited bulbs offer that little bit more with up to 110% more light.

Both are very impressive bulbs, are extremely popular, and are the best-selling products on PowerBulbs as far as performance bulbs go. In fact they are such great bulbs that many customers struggle to choose between the two, so we recently wrote a blog post that saw them going head to head - click here to read that post and find out which is right for you.

Styling Bulbs

Styling bulbs are designed primarily for looks and style. The main benefit of a styling product is that they give a modern and stylish look to your car. Most styling bulbs still give a great improvement in the amount of light emitted on the road, just not as much as what a performance bulb would.

Styling bulbs are perfect for drivers who are image-conscious and interested in standing out from the crowd. These sorts of bulbs give a crisp, ice white light on the road which can make your car look modern and more expensive.

Styling bulbs are usually white in colour, and have a thin blue coating to take away the yellow colour that standard headlight bulbs emit.

Our two most popular styling car headlight bulbs are the Philips Diamond Vision and the PIAA Stratos Blue. Both of these bulbs offer a Xenon HID effect and are top products in the styling category.
