4.8 Based on 19 customer reviews - Write a Review

A widespread problem in the automotive lighting industry is the increase of counterfeit globes in the marketplace. It can be difficult to check the authenticity of globes, but to counter this growing concern, Philips have given the consumer an easy way of determining for certain whether or not they have received genuine Philips products. Each of our products comes with a unique QR code that can be verified as authentic by Philips here.

A range of LED headlights that offers everything: the masterful design of the Philips X-tremeUltinon LED range promises to improve the style, safety, illumination and lifespan of your headlights in one comprehensive package.

Why buy Philips X-tremeUltinon LED Headlamp H4 (Twin)?

The X-tremeUltinon LED range is the result of years of design and innovation by Philips, and combines a variety of the manufacturer's patented design features to create a headlight that ticks all the boxes: sight, style, safety, lifespan. By implementing Philips' LUXEON LED technology, the globes are able to produce a bright white light with a 6500K colour temperature, which also projects up to 200% more light than a standard halogen globe.

In addition to offering extra style, the X-tremeUltinon's bright white light makes use of SafeBeam technology to ensure that the globes' additional light is projected precisely on to the road ahead. Where the white light provides a more distinct look and stlye than a standard halogen, the white LED colour is also useful in that it closely matches natural daylight, thereby helping you feel sharp and alert during nighttime driving. And because of the X-tremeUltinon's meticulous positioning and design, the strong, uniformly diffused light of the LED lights up obstacles far down the road without dazzling other .

You can enjoy the advantages of a brighter, whiter light for longer thanks to Philips' implementation of their own advanced AirFlux and AirCool technologies, which both increase heat resistance and divert heat from critical components, thereby increasing globe life expectancy. The intelligent heat management systems of the X-tremeUltinon, along with their higher intensity of light, make for a robustly designed globe with an exceptionally long life, spanning up to 12 years.

The X-tremeUltinon headlight globes are easy to install – simply plug and play – so you can benefit from a globe with increased sight, style, safety and lifetime in next to no time at all.

PLEASE NOTE: These globes are not considered road legal and, as such, their usage is not currently approved on public roads: their usage is limited to ‘off-road’ applications.

Philips X-tremeUltinon LED H4 (Twin)

5 philips led bulbs

After researching for a while I decided to go with the philips leds instead of some cheap ones as I didn't want to risk one of the bulbs just randomly going out on me, and am happy I went with these. they are a lot brighter then the standard halogens I had in my car plus 30watt less power per bulb :) I've had them on for about a month now and No one has flashed me as the beam pattern is spot on. Plus and play in my nissan with no canbus issues. I would recommend these to anyone who wants brighter lights. I am very happy with my purchase. Thank you Powerbulbs

5 Excellent lighting upgrade.

Fitted a set of these to my Mk2 Golf GTi and am massively impressed. They produce clean white light and lots of it, but more importantly, the cut-off is excellent and identical to that from the uprated halogen bulbs they replaced. They may not be road legal, but when following another vehicle, it's very obvious that the light pattern is very defined and non intrusive. Very easy to fit as well and the connectors and control boxes have a high quality feel to them. Not cheap, but you're buying a bulb that's been properly developed by a top notch international lighting specialist and it shows. Have just ordered a set of the new Gen 2 versions to go in our T5. Finally, great service and an excellent price from Powerbulbs.

5 Bright lights!

Thse lights are easily twice as bright as the h4 bulbs they replaced. Using them with Hella DOT lenses and they don't blind other drivers which was a concearn. After 20 years of poor lighting on my truck I can finally see more than 50feet in front of me! On low beam I would say visibility is about 300ft and an easy quarter mile on high beam.

5 Big Improvement

These bulbs were well reviewed, so I expected a good result.....and I got it! Starting from the fast delivery ( to the other side of the world), to the good packaging and instructions. Quality stuff from Philips as you would expect. A good discount helped the price a bit and the performance of the bulbs is outstanding. Why they are not approved for on-road use is puzzling. A very sharp cut-off on low beam means that not one car coming the other way has flashed its lights! Well done Philips and Power Bulbs.

5 Plug and play / drive

Got the H4 version for my 2015 Honda Fit (Canada). Easy to install, no trimming of the rubber gasket required since you can pull the bulb wire through the gasket before installing the bulb heat sink. Quite satisfied with the ease of install and perceived improvement in output (was using Philips xtreme +130 before). No issues with daytime running light mode. Output pattern is same as before.

5 Well worth having these

Night time driving in country Australia is great, except for the Roos, wild Cameles and horses roaming in the dark. When I ficked the spotties off, it uesd to be instant dark. Not anymore! Don't bother with cheap (read; shit) quality LED's. Just buy the best and be done with it. Power Bulbs delivery was fast and the globes were packaged in enough bubble wrap to ensue no damage during transit

5 Excellent service.

Ordered set of LED headlights, arrived in good time, no problems. Also being the genius I am, I forgot to enter the 20% discount code printed in large letters at top of site before finalising order. Once I realised my mistake a day later, I said I'd chance asking Powerbulbs customer service to amend order. They just credited my account with the full 20% equivalent, no questions asked. Very happy with the service.

5 Definately worth it!

I bought the bulbs in order to replace the one in my motorcycle which uses a single headlight with the usual reflector type and an H4 bulb. The headlight features a clear front glass/plastic cover and the beam is formed by the reflector. The least that I can say is that judging by the name and the price, I expected it to be good, but I didn't expect it to be THAT good!!! Obviously the 6000K light colour is there, the difference in the brightness is.. well huge (and I already had Osram Nightbreaker fitted), but I didn't expect to get such a good beam shape, so close to the original! After fittng we had the beam checked and adjusted with proffesional equipment, and the results were great!! It is also easily seen on the road that the beam pattern is correct. At night, using the low beam, the cut off is clearly seen on the road. There is a very disticnt line on the road where there is light and and where it's dark. The beam isn't fading in front of you as with the original bulb, it's more like a xenon+projector lens kind of effect! I am very impressed!! Loads of light on the right side of the road as well, as the beam is formed by the reflector! Using the high beam is a different game alltogether. There is no cut-off line anywhere, just loads of light everywhere! Easily 150m ahead, probably more, both left and right, and up ahead!! The beam pattern is so good, that I've never been flashed since I had these installed and adjusted for me on the bike, but riding with pillion, with the bike sitting back it's clearly a problem for the oncoming traffic, that I need to solve.. It is much more than what I expected it to be, and I'm glad since the price is quite high, to say the least!! A very high quality product, which I can't figure why it's not road legal.. yet!

5 Fantastic bulbs

I have fitted these bulbs to my 1990 air cooled Porsche and they have transformed the headlights. I have used cheaper led bulbs before and the beam pattern was rubbish and when the lights were on they interfered with the radio. The Philips bulbs have a great beam and the cut off is just like halogens also there is no interference. I would definitely recommend these bulbs for any car that uses H4 fittings particularly classics. The bulbs and the drivers fit easily in to the headlight bowl of old Porsche 911’s. Another plus point is they draw far less power from the electrical system. I have used power bulbs many times and have always had great service and fast delivery. Great company to do business with.

4 Led h4

After buying cheap stuff and having failures i bpught these and they are awesome. I wish i had just spent the money first time and id be way in front. Only negative is i to get a load resister as my dash high beam doesnt work but that is a 80 series landcruiser thing which was an issue for all the hid/led globed i have tried which is many

5 Amazing

As the old saying goes "you get what you pay for" These aren't cheap but they have greatly improved the light output from my H4 lights. As important they don't just throw the light out randomly. The cut off for oncoming traffic is very defined and excellent. Can't see any negatives. Never been flashed and can't see why they're not officially "road legal"

5 They're great!

As promised in my initial review, I said I would report back on these bulbs after trying them on a dark wet night and the verdict is as the title - they're great! No one is dazzled but the nearside verge or pavement is well lit with white light on dipped beam, and main beam enables one to "make progress" as the police say. I'll report back on the H7s when I get round to fitting them to the Audi. In the meantime, yes, these bulbs aren't cheap but they deliver the good white light that I wanted come dry or wet. Given their intended long service life I also use my dipped beam as my DRLs - and at least my rear lights are on too unlike factory fit DRLs! Highly recommended.

3 Good but possibly early days...

Over the 8 years we have owned my wife's little 59 plate Suzuki Swift I have tried several different pairs of the latest +120%, +130% and +150% "xenon" bulbs to improve the poor light output from the headlights and I have also tried aftermarket HIDs [they kept failing] and, most recently, some cheap LEDs [appalling light scatter]. So in final desperation I have just splashed the cash and bought a pair of H4 Philips X-treme Ultinon LEDs. Once ordered, they arrived next day by DPD, well packaged and neatly boxed. Fitting them really is "plug and play" and took about 10 minutes per headlight, the longest time being taken up by finding somewhere to neatly zip-tie the small black control box! The LED kit and its wiring is way, way neater than the aftermarket HIDs kits on offer, by the way. I also helped myself beforehand by finding very informative Youtube videos made by Philips themselves showing you how to DIY their LED bulb kit. PowerBulbs might like to find them and display the links! So, what are the lights like? Well, pretty good is my first impression on a dry, moonlit night and compared to the very latest Philips 150% halogen bulbs, their Ultinon LEDs are literally chalk [bright white] and cheese [yellow Edam]! The beam seems to have a good shape but is quite high and on the first run out [yes, I know these lights are for "off-road" use] I got flashed a couple of times. So it is fortunate that the Suzuki has a headlight height roller adjustment switch on the dashboard that allows me to move the headlights up and down. I found a deserted, straight and level piece of road and fiddled about for a few minutes before settling on the midpoint of the adjustment and thereafter everyone was happy. The white beam has a good reach along the verge on dip and main beam lights the way ahead very well. Others have reported that LED light output can be patchy: yes, there is a little bit of that it's but not overly noticeable, and, in my opinion, the overall improvement in lumens on the road more than makes up for this slight characteristic. The real challenge, as always for any headlight bulb, will come on a moonless wet night and I will report back. In the meantime, I am only awarding three "stars" out of five for these three reasons, the first being that, as above, I have not yet tried the bulbs on a dark, wet night; the second is the slight "patching"; and the third is the price - without the 25% New Year discount I would definitely not have bought the bulbs and even with that discount, they're not yet what I consider to be good value. Notwithstanding that, if you are not happy with the light output from your existing halogens, then rather than faff about buying yet another set of the "latest" +XXX% [and I've spent the thick end of a hundred quid doing so], you might want to consider biting the bullet and getting these Philips Ultinon LEDs. In fact I've already got another set - H7s this time- to go in my new Audi!

5 H4 bulbs

Received my bulbs from UK well packed and intact. The installation was straight forward. Results surpassed my expectations. A clear white light that conformed to the lens arrangement. Not getting flashed by oncoming traffic. Very happy with my bulbs and would recommend them and the supplier to all potential buyers. A1 product.

5 The best ligth you can have

I was really amazed by the output of those bulbs, at firts I though that the 6500k ligth would look a litle blue, but they are pure white, just like those new car that came whit factory LED headligths. The pattern is amost precise and don't glare other drivers. I dont understand why the are not road legal. They are simply amazing! worth every penny.
