In summary:

If you are a driver looking for a high performance off-road product, then Philips Rally H7 is the product for you. The greater light output with this product is achieved by the higher wattage used. Please note that this product may cause discolouration or damage to modern plastic lenses. To avoid this happening, then modifications would need to be made to the headlights. As an alternative to this product, then we would recommend using a performance product such as Philips Extreme Vision. This delivers up to 100% more light and has standard wattage, therefore doesn’t cause the problems that a higher wattage bulb could. The higher wattage also means that the bulbs have a much shorter life span than a standard bulb and would need to be changed more often. These bulbs are not road legal.

You should choose Philips Rally H7 if you’re looking for:

• A high wattage lamp for off road use where the lamps will be changed regularly, i.e. racing vehicles.

Product history:

High wattage lamps have been around since the 1970s. They do a great job of providing more light, but this is at the expense of a significantly shorter lifespan compared to standard lamps. In addition, because they generate more heat, they pose a risk to plastic lenses and can result in the melting or discolouration of the headlight unit. This is why we generally advise customer’s avoid high wattage lamps, as more modern products can deliver more light without these problems.

Are they legal to use and do I need to modify my vehicle?

Philips Rally is not a road legal product due to the high wattage. If you vehicle has plastic lenses, the modifications would need to be made to the headlights to avoid discolouration or damage.

Performance lighting for performance on the circuit.

These high wattage bulbs produce massive amounts of light which is needed for competition driving on closed circuits. These high wattage lamps do not comply with ECE Regulation 37 and as such should not be used on European Roads.
